Abstract
With the widespread usage of embedded devices in data acquisition and industrial control applications, the method of collecting and distributing scientific data has become a very important issue. However there is no standard protocol in present implementations of this kind of Embedded Real-time Applications (ERAs). We propose a new real-time data transfer scheme derived from SNMP, the widely accepted protocol used in network management. This scheme enables embedded devices to collect and push real-time data to the management system over IP-based networks. Based on this scheme, we have implemented a real-time system to transfer temperature data using a real-time temperature MIB.
