Abstract
This paper describes ongoing research on designing and developing personalised mobile services. An iterative research approach on technology push and user pull is applied. The technology push strand uses a top down approach of designing a Personal Service Environment (PSE) for mobile services. The PSE is defined as an environment that assists a user in finding, adapting and using services that fulfil his needs, given his personal profile, his mobility and his context. The user-pull strand conducted user evaluations to gain insights into tailoring behaviour of end-users. In order to derive user-tailoring data for PSE design, a questionnaire on personalisation of cellular phones was conducted. When combining these two approaches, both useful and usable personalised mobile services can be developed.
