Abstract
Abstract: In the recent years, the DSP based solutions became the concern of new design. At the present time, most of voice band modems use a programmable solution and most of telecommunication systems tend to do the same. For the xDSL modems, the same trend is expected and the DSP based implementation becomes the challenge for new designs. In this paper we investigate a programmable solution for the DMT (Discrete Multi Tone) based VDSL modems using Texas Instrument processor family TMS320C64x. We will present structures for both transmitter and receiver sides. We will evaluate the complexity and the hardware needed for both parts.
