Manufacturing in a Virtual Enterprise is a more complex task than in the single, integrated enterprise case. We are proposing a systematization of the structure and business processes in a Virtual Enterprise, defining terms like Virtual Cluster, and Target Cluster. For a better integration, we propose to use the mobile agent server (infrastructure, or dock) and the concept of the Mobile A-Web. The role of the mobile agents in such an environment is to track and monitor the manufacturing processes and to mediate negotiations between the parties of the Virtual Enterprise when necessities arise this at the business processes level. We are making some assumptions about the new behavior and conduct in the envisaged environment, such as the willingness to share data and knowledge, and avoid harmful lack of cooperation. The main goal of the paper is to show a possible architecture for an integrating infrastructure based on mobile agents. We show some results obtained in developing our prototype, named PROVE and some insights about the advantages of using systems like this.
